Oak Bark (Quercus cortex)
Oak bark is a medicinal product in the form of herbal tea.
Composition
Active ingredient: Oak bark (Quercus cortex).
- 100 g of product contains 100 g of oak bark.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- Adults:
For external use on the skin or mucous membranes as a decoction.
Preparation of decoction: Add 1 tablespoon of oak bark (approximately 4 g) to 1 cup of water, boil for 5 minutes, then let it stand for 15 minutes and strain.
Use the decoction for:- Rinsing the mouth and throat.
- Compresses and washes.
Do not use for more than 7 days.
Effects
Oak bark has an astringent effect.
Indications
Oak bark is used externally as an astringent agent for:
- Mild inflammatory conditions of the skin.
- Mild inflammations of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat.
Contraindications
Do not use Oak Bark:
- On large areas of damaged skin.
- For full-body baths.
- In cases of:
- Weeping eczema with large surface areas.
- Infectious diseases accompanied by fever.
- Heart failure.
- Hypertension.
Side Effects
No known side effects.
Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use on large areas of the body.
- Do not drink the decoction.
- Do not use for longer than 7 days.
- If symptoms worsen or persist, consult a doctor.
Storage:
- Store in a tightly closed container at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
- Protect from light, moisture, and foreign odors.
- Keep out of reach and sight of children.
Interactions with Other Medications
Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or plan to take, including over-the-counter medicines.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, suspect you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Due to a lack of safety data, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.
